Yes, I’m actually here to meet someone.
Preferably somewhere with good drinks, decent lighting, and enough time to discover whether we make each other laugh.
I’m Aydin. I’m single, I date women, including trans women, and I’m considerably more interested in chemistry than assembling a checklist of qualifications.
I like intelligent women, funny women, curious women, women with stories, opinions, appetites, passports, books on the nightstand, or some combination thereof.
You do not need to agree with me.
In fact, that would probably get boring.
My idea of a good first date is fairly simple: a cocktail bar where we can actually hear each other, an excellent restaurant neither of us needs to photograph twelve times, coffee that unexpectedly becomes dinner, or wandering somewhere because neither person is quite ready to go home alone.
I travel, usually for work, so dating on the road comes with a built-in clock. There may only be a night or two to find out whether there’s chemistry, and unfortunately the work that brought me there still expects to be done.
That makes endless messaging particularly inefficient.
I would rather have one good conversation across a table than spend three weeks trying to manufacture one through a phone.
I’m open to something casual.
I’m open to genuine connection.
And I’m perfectly open to discovering that one quietly became the other.
What matters more is that neither of us has to pretend we already know where things are going.
The ideal first date?
We meet somewhere comfortable.
Conversation is easier than expected.
One drink becomes another.
Somewhere along the way, we stop checking the time.
Maybe we find another place.
Maybe we walk.
Maybe neither of us is particularly eager for the evening to end.
That seems like enough of a plan.
Best case
There’s chemistry, the conversation runs longer than intended, somebody orders another round, and the evening becomes considerably less predictable.
Worst case
We spend an hour with an interesting stranger, discover we are not each other’s person, and leave with another story.
I can live with those odds.
Think we might get along?
If you’re nearby and curious, suggest a drink. If geography is currently conspiring against us, say hello anyway.
